Current trends in english language testing

Is there one best test for any given situation? If there is, how can teachers design such a test? Though not miraculous as it may sound, the question can be tough to answer promptly. This presentation takes a glimpse of what a traditional language test aims at, gives an insight into some misconceptions of language testing and makes an analysis of current testing needs. A short theoretical basis for language testing will also be introduced in order to shed light on an implication as to what should be the “best” test for the time being.
