John Lowe

JOHN LOWE has been involved in English language teaching since the mid-1980s. He has taught English in Libya, Bulgaria and Japan in diverse teaching situations, including at a high school in Bulgaria, private language schools in Libya and Japan, and also at the prestigious Keio University in Tokyo. He was also an examiner for the United Nations test of English. In 1995 he joined Thomson Publishing (now Cengage) and moved to Singapore, where he lived for seven years. While Director of Cengage Asia ELT, he built a network of ELT consultants and writers across Asia, and led the team on promoting the specially adapted Go For It! series to Chinese Junior High Schools, when he trained thousands of Chinese teachers. Go For It! has now sold in excess of 2.5 billion copies. After leaving Cengage in 2007 he established his own consultancy company, advising on educational strategy to Fortune 500 companies such as Amazon, AETN and Turner Media.  He’s given presentations at many major ELT conferences and is co-founder of the MICELT conference in Malaysia. He now represents Garnet Education in Asia and is based in Tokyo.
