Engaging Students with Meaningful Communicative Activities
Everybody
loves a good game, but how often do we critically think about the fun
activities we plan for our classes? Games should not only be fun but should
also be connected to the lesson. In fact, it should be part of the lesson. In
this workshop, we will explore how games can be used in an effective and
meaningful way to promote communication in the classroom. We will examine the
elements of a good game and discuss practical ways in which teachers can
critically examine the games they design and lead in their classrooms. After
considering the elements of a good game, we will learn and play a variety of
games that can be used as a part of a lesson for each of the four language
skills.
