Heather Barikmo

Heather Barikmo is the Instructional Technology Coordinator at The English Language Center, an Intensive English Program at LaGuardia Community College, City University of New York. Her teaching focuses on reading and oral communications, and she incorporates web and mobile technologies to enhance student learning both inside and outside the classroom. She also supports teachers in the use of emerging instructional technologies, and manages The English Language Center’s fully digital Media Center. She is currently working with a team of game designers to develop mobile and web-based games for English vocabulary learning. Ms. Barikmo has previously taught at the Center for Immigrant Education and Training at CUNY, the American Language Institute at NYU, and the American Language Program at Columbia University; she also taught elementary and middle school students in Hamamatsu, Japan. Ms. Barikmo holds a Masters of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University.
