Developing effective skills for ielts tasks
IELTS lessons often simply consist of instruction on how to do a task followed by opportunity to practise. However, this is not enough to help candidates improve their performance signifi- cantly. As teachers, we need to get 'under the skin' of the task. This means that we need to firstly identify the underlying skills that are being targeted by the task, and devise ways to prac- tice these skills accordingly. Secondly, we need to break down the thought process involved in answering certain question types. In this practical talk, participants will be shown various ways to do this, using examples from the course book 'IELTS Express’.
