Flexible and effective teaching for different needs
Teaching English is not limited to helping students develop language proficiency to communicate in a variety of everyday situations. Teachers are also faced with the challenge of preparing their students for the communicative demands in their academic and professional lives. Students need to build a global perspective of world issues and cultural awareness in order to be able to communicate effectively in different contexts with people from various backgrounds. In this workshop participants will look into strategies to can cover all these needs as effectively as possible: maximizing interaction and meaningful communication, integrating content and activities that help students build academic and critical thinking skills; developing intercultural awareness, and covering the lexical, grammatical, and phonological syllabus in a natural language context. The presenter will use examples from TakeAway English, the new young adult course from McGraw-Hill.
