Alan Maley

Alan has been involved with English Language teaching for 50 years now. From 1962-88, he worked for the British Council in Yugoslavia, Ghana, Italy, France, China and India.  He was Director-General of the Bell Educational Trust in Cambridge from 1988-93. He served as President of IATEFL from 1988-91.  After leaving Bell, he worked as Senior Fellow at NUS, Singapore until 1998.  From 1999 to 2003 he set up and ran the graduate programme in ELT at Assumption University, Bangkok.  He has held posts at the Universities of Durham, Nottingham, University Kebaangsan Malaysia, Open University, Ho Chi Minh City, and is currently Visiting Professor at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, and a freelance writer and consultant.  He has published over 40 books and numerous articles.  He was presented with the prestigious ELTons Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
