Making Use of Internet Materials: Creative and Fun
The Internet has provided both the teachers and the learners with a vast and rich source of useful materials for their teaching and learning of English over the years. This presentation makes use of one type of such materials: the six-word stories. Within only six words, the authors are able to tell amazing stories of various types, packed with strong emotions. The growing popularity of this type of stories has attracted the involvement of different writers, both professional and amateur, adults and children.
Inspired by the succinct and thought-provoking language use of these stories, the presenter has adopted this valuable source of materials in promoting the imagination, creativity and language development of her EFL students, both at high school and tertiary levels. This presentation is an illustration of how different effective activities have been conducted in various teaching contexts. The products can increase the learners’ enjoyment and confidence in using the language.
