Michael McLoghlin has more than 15 years of experience in the field of English language teaching and language program management in Australia, China and Vietnam. He has worked in various roles such as Director of Studies and senior teacher, teaching a wide range of classes at all levels, and specialist classes such as Cambridge Main Suite and Academic English. In addition to his work as IELTS examiner in Australia and China, Michael has also worked extensively in the design and implementation of teacher training programs for best-selling titles such as the junior high school English language series, Go for it, and the popular young learner program, National Geographic Our World. He is currently based in Shanghai and works as the Educational Services Associate Manager for the educational publisher, National Geographic Learning.
The Power of ideas—A Flipped Classroom for 21st Century Learners
The speaker will look at research that supports flipped classrooms emphasizing 21st Century before looking at the appeal of TED talks as a learning resource. He will then provide examples from Keynote and Learn English with TED Talks to show how a flipped classroom model can be applied with the help of mobile technology. Finally, he will review students’ reflections after using this program and suggest additional activities for the classroom.
